From Processed Foods to Whole Foods!

The way I changed my diet for the better
Making the decision to change my outlook on my life and towards myself, you can read it here The High Five habit by Mel Robbins, I also needed to change my eating habits which wasn’t an easy one. I had to be honest with myself and admit that my current diet was not doing me any favours. The sluggish feeling, low energy, the bloat the list goes on. I was eating too much-processed food and not enough nutrient-rich whole foods. I knew I needed to make a change if I wanted to feel better and have more energy.
First Step: Cut Out Processed Food
Cut out processed food from my diet. This meant goodbye to fast food, packaged snacks, boxed and sugary drinks. It was hard at first, but I soon realised how much better I felt without all of that junk in my system. My energy levels increased and I no longer felt bloated after meals.
Next, I started focusing on eating more whole foods. I made sure to include plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, and whole grains in my diet. These foods are packed with nutrients that my body needs and they taste great too! Eating this way not only makes me feel better physically but mentally as well. I feel more focused and energised when I eat healthy foods.
These are just some of the whole foods that I make sure to include in my diet on a regular basis. By eating more whole foods and less processed junk, I have seen a huge difference in my overall health. I feel better mentally and physically and I have more energy to get through my day. If you are looking to make a change in your diet, I highly recommend starting with these two steps. Cut out processed food and focus on eating more whole foods. Your body will thank you for it!

Second Step: Probiotics
Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that help support digestive health. I started eating more probiotic-rich foods like yoghurt, kefir, and sauerkraut.
Adding probiotics to my diet made a huge difference in my digestion. My stomach felt less bloated after meals and I didn’t get sick as often. If you’re looking to add probiotics to your diet, here are a few tips:
- Eat yoghurt or kefir every day or add it to your morning smoothie. Yoghurt and kefir are both great sources of probiotics. Choose yoghurt or kefir that has live and active cultures listed on the label.
- Add sauerkraut to your meals. Sauerkraut is a fermented food that is packed with probiotics. Add it to your sandwiches, salads, or rice bowls for a boost of gut health goodness.
- Take a probiotic supplement. If you’re looking for an extra dose of probiotics, consider taking a probiotic supplement. Look for a supplement that has 5-10 billion CFUs (colony forming units).
Third Step: Replacement Meal

I exchanged one meal a day and added a smoothie. I started to feel lighter, and my skin was brighter. Adding smoothies made such a big difference. One smoothie I tried and really enjoyed was the Reese Witherspoon green breakfast smoothie.
Reese Witherspoon is always looking for ways to give her body the boost it needs. This includes eating clean, natural foods like fruits and vegetables in addition to protein – which you can get from eggs or meat if desired!
Reese swears by this Green Smoothie recipe on Instagram that she has been drinking for the past eight to nine years and she obtained the recipe from Kerry Washington claiming it’s the reason for her glowing skin and beautiful hair. Reese claims this smoothie fills her up for hours. It’s nutritious and tastes great. The ingredients in the smoothie are romaine lettuce, spinach, banana, apple, pear, lemon, and coconut water.
I’m not a fan of coconut water and I was nervous about the romaine lettuce. I’ve never consumed a smoothie with romaine before but I gave it a go. If you’re not a fan of coconut water, like me, swap it out for some spring water. I also added some ice cubes cause I love my smoothies cold and I added some almond butter simply cause I love almond butter. End result: this smoothie is amazing, it’s so filling and tastes delicious. I highly recommend trying it!
